Defensive end Tyson Jackson has been a disappointment ever since the Chiefs drafted him with the No. 3 overall pick in 2009. In his first four seasons in the league, he's recorded just five sacks -- and he's been paid quite handsomely for it.

Eleven months ago, the Chiefs restructured Jackson's contract to save money on cap space, and on Tuesday, ESPN.com's Bill Williamson reported that the two sides have tweaked his deal again to keep him on the team for 2013.

Jackson -- who signed a rookie deal worth $57 million over five years ($30 million of that was guaranteed) and who was in danger of being a cap causality this offseason -- was scheduled to make a base salary of $14.72 million in 2013, and the Chiefs cap hit would have been a team-high $17.47 million.

Though he hasn't shown much pass-rushing ability in his pro career, the Chiefs front office apparently still has confidence in Jackson.

“He walked in and talked to me the other day and he's as square as the door frame,â€￾ GM John Dorsey said last month. “He's just a very big guy, he's very strong at the point (of attack). … I can't wait to see what the coaches are doing to kick him in on third down to see if he can push the pocket.â€￾

looks like it has some incentives and he could make up to $5.2 mill this season

That's much more in-line with his value. He's a decent run-stopper that can eat up some blocks. he's just not a real impactful player and isn't worth anywhere near 8 figures.

and now the chiefs are supposedly trying to get dorsey re-signed. they seem to be retaining most of their players
