Colts head coach Jim Caldwell was noncommittal Monday whether he’ll stick with starter Curtis Painter or turn to backup Dan Orlovsky. A change is warranted as the offense has failed to score a touchdown in the past two games and has just four TDs and 13 interceptions in the past 22 quarters. It’s all not Painter’s fault, but he has faltered lately after several solid starts in early October. He hasn’t had a touchdown pass in the past four games and just five on the season but the team’s pass protection has been leaky, putting Painter under early and frequent pressure in passing situations. But when given adequate time, he’s still inconsistent as his 54.7 percent completion percentage shows.
