Indianapolis Colts safety Melvin Bullitt has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for a hit on New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in last Sunday's AFC Championship Game. Although Bullitt wasn't penalized on the play, he drew the wrath of Jets coach Rex Ryan for contact to Sanchez from behind after Sanchez had gotten rid of the football. "Five thousand dollars, that hurts,'' Bullitt said. "I understand (Ryan) being mad because that's his quarterback, but I didn't try to hurt him. I was just playing football. I didn't know if he had the ball or not. I was coming from behind. A couple of times he ran a naked boot and sat there in the pocket and nobody hit him.'' Bullitt said he will appeal the fine.
