Bears QB Jay Cutler mentioned he is not interested in discussing a contract extension during the season, via ESPN Chicago.

“I don’t want to do (an extension) during the year,†Cutler said during “The Jay Cutler Show†on ESPN 1000. “I did it during the year when I first got here, and it didn’t work out that well, and I said I’d never do it again. After the year if they want to talk we can talk. If not, we’ll play out the next year and see how it goes.â€

Cutler’s current contract runs through the 2013 season, in which he’ll make a base salary of $8.47 million. There’s no question that the Bears will be willing to discuss another extension after the season, and it does make sense that he would keep focus on the current season, given that Chicago has a real shot at making a deep post season run this year.

I think it would be a bad move to not lock him up for 5 or 6 more years.

Very true.... I say no time table when a new deal will get done but i'm very confident something will get done.

Question will be if Cutler wants to try to survive behind a yearly ignored POS called a Bear OL. Look how long it took him to get an NFL caliber WR in Marshall.
