Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent is retiring to focus on off-field issues, Mike Garafolo of FOXSports reports. Brent, 25, is facing an intoxication manslaughter charge for a December car wreck that killed his close friend and Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown. Brent's trial is set for September. He has failed two drug tests since being released on a $100,000 bond. Both tests showed marijuana present in his system. Source: The Redzone
He retired!?! Why!?! It's not like he was doing anything anyways. Bad move. Now the prosecution will go harder on him.
Should be interesting to see how this plays out in a Texas courtroom instead of a Florida court where Donte Stalworth was tried. Sure there are many dissimilarities, but both are/were DUI manslaughter. Don't know about Texas, but if it were Arizona, Brent would be long-term resident of one hecked up penal institution. Zero tolerance.
Big difference in the Stallworth case though. He gave the family 2 mill, and they wanted the charges dropped
Brent hasn't plead guilty, like Stallworth or given the family 2 million. Stall was looking at 10 yr max, and plead down to 30 days. Stall also wasn't just getting of probo for a DUI. Jus sayin. The cases are totally diff
