The status of Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent is expected to be determined before the Cowboys leave for training camp in California next week according to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com.

Brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter after a December car accident killed practice-squad linebacker Jerry Brown. Complicating his status further is the fact that Brent was just released from jail Sunday after serving 11 days for violating the terms of his pretrial release by allegedly twice testing positive for marijuana use, in addition to the two failed drug tests, a monitoring device alerted officials to the presence of alcohol in his system in March.

Brent is eligible to take part in practice but did not participate in OTAs, the offseson conditioning program, or the Cowboys spring minicamp, all indications are that the team does not expect Brent to play in 2013 but they have not yet cut him. The Cowboys have been waiting for the league office to make a ruling, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell can suspend Brent under the league's personal conduct policy before the legal system process is complete.
