DeSean Jackson On Eagles' Win Over Redskins: 'We Were Like Pit Bulls'

DeSean Jackson made a well-intentioned comparison Monday night that will nonetheless invite scrutiny to the Eagles receiver. Jackson was discussing the pregame incident his team had with the Redskins before the lopsided 59-28 Monday night contest in which Redskins safety LaRon Landry allegedly spat and threatened him. When referencing how that incident fired up his team, he said, "The pregame altercation got us going. It had us ready. We came back into the locker room pumped. We were like pit bulls, ready to get out of the cage." It's not the first time a team or player has been compared to a wild animal, but Jackson's comments nonetheless invite references to teammate Michael Vick's history with pit bulls and dogfighting. Jackson likely spoke without thinking of the reference he was making, but the Vick case touched heavily on the nerves of animal lovers across the country, so any loose mention of Vick and dogs will garner attention and possibly criticism.

It was a dumb thing to say but I can't imagine it will be a big deal. It's hardly throwing Vick under the bus. That notion is just ridiculous.
