The Miami Dolphins began preparation for Sunday's season finale against New England without the team's two starting cornerbacks.

Nolan Carroll and Sean Smith, who are both recovering from left knee injuries they suffered this month, could possibly sit out Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Carroll, who missed Sunday's game against Buffalo because of the knee injury he suffered the previous week, appeared to be practicing on a limited basis.

Carroll didn't practice at all last week.

Smith, who has played in every NFL game during his four seasons, watched all of Wednesday's practice, but he does not have a noticeable limp.
