Mike Patterson, who is likely to miss the entire season while healing following offseason brain surgery, has had his 2012 base salary cut in half, from $2.1 million to $1.05 million, according to NFL salary records. Patterson is on the Eagles’ Reserve-Non Football Injury list and ineligible to play for at least the first six weeks of the season. The Eagles have indicated it’s likely he won’t play at all this year. According to records, the pay cut and other tweaks to Patterson’s contract will clear out more than $2 million in cap space for the Eagles. His original 2012 cap figure was $4,052,000, and it’s now down to $1,904,960, for a total of $2,104,704 in cap savings. Source: Comcast Sports
so, it's not real clear............. patterson AGREED to this pay cut or the Eagles were able to do it on their own because of some contractual clause? if the eagles did it without patterson's agreement. it's kind of a douchebag move since the dude is going to need the money to pay for brain surgery, recovery, etc.
