Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole has a potentially serious calf injury and will undergo an MRI on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Cole was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 24-23 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. A two-time Pro Bowler, Cole has 60 quarterback sacks over his first six-plus seasons in the NFL, posting double-digit sack totals in three of the last four years and at least eight sacks in each of the last five seasons. Cole is a perfect fit for first-year Eagles defensive line coach Jim Washburn's "Wide Nine" scheme, which takes advantage of speedy defensive ends. Cole had one quarterback sack in each of the first three games, but was kept up off the stat sheet by the 49ers on Sunday. Source: Mac's Football Blog
