The Philadelphia Eagles made the splashiest head-coaching hire by convincing Chip Kelly to leave Oregon while ESPN analyst Jon Gruden, however, was never in the mix. Gruden "made it clear" that he had no plans to return to an NFL sideline in 2013, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told reporters Thursday. With eight such jobs coming open, there was an initial thought the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders coach would be a viable candidate in the right situation. According to Lurie, his good friend Gruden helped in the vetting process. Gruden, an intense offensive mind himself, not surprisingly vouched for the way Kelly conducted practices and schemed for game days at Oregon. Source: Sporting News
I can't freaking stand how everyone puts this freaking guy on a pedestal like he's the freaking GOD of head coaches and quarterbacks.
