The Atlanta Falcons announced the hiring of Joe Danna as defensive backs coach and the promotion of Glenn Thomas from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach. "I really like the make-up and chemistry that our new coaching staff brings to the table," Falcons head coach Mike Smith said. "I am certain that these men will all work together to objectively bring about a fresh set of offensive and defensive concepts and schemes that will make us a more competitive and consistent football team as we prepare ourselves for the 2012 NFL season." Danna spent the last two seasons as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Miami Dolphins, coaching under Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Before joining the Dolphins, Danna spent two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Thomas has been an offensive assistant the last four seasons and replaces Bob Bratkowski, who spent one seasons with the Falcons before being following Mike Mularkey to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Andrew Weidinger has been promoted from assistant to the head coach to offensive assistant.
