Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said Thursday that he is pessimistic that the NFL and NFLPA can reach a deal that would prevent a work stoppage in 2011. Gonzalez, who is a player rep, told Sirius's Mad Dog Radio that it won't benefit either side to allow a work stoppage to happen, but he hasn't seen signs of progress that would prevent one. "My gut feeling is telling me that we might be heading for a lockout. So, right now it looks like ... all signs are pointing towards that lockout. Hopefully we can stay from that and hopefully we can get that deal done but if it doesn't it's something that we're preparing for. But the only ones that are going to lose are the fans. I mean, that's not fair so hopefully we can get a deal done." Source: USA Today
I'm glad someone finally acknowledged the fans in this situation. Greed is going to kill this game, it's reached a peak that it may not get back for a long time if this thing takes a one-year hiatus.
