It appears David Diehl has avoided a major injury to his knee.

The New York Giants' starting right tackle, who left Sunday's 41-34 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an injury to his right knee, did not suffer any damage to his ACL, according to two people with knowledge of the exams performed on Sunday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the Giants have yet to update Diehl's status.

Diehl was injured late in the first quarter when he was caught in a pile of players. He limped off the field and headed to the locker room for further evaluation. He did not return to the sideline and underwent an MRI on his knee, a procedure that often isn't performed until a day later.
