The Giants re-signed defensive tackle Shaun Rogers today, restocking the shelf at the position after cutting Chris Canty yesterday.

Rogers, a 13-year veteran, originally came to the Giants last spring, but sat out the 2012 season after developing a blood clot in his leg during training camp. The 6-foot-4, 350-pounder is a run-stopping force who has started 128 career games for Detroit, Cleveland and New Orleans, and is a three-time Pro Bowler.

Rogers, 33, rejoins a young defensive tackle group that includes Linval Joseph, Markus Kuhn and Marvin Austin.

By cutting Canty, the Giants saved $6.5 million in cap space.
