When the Detroit Lions released Brian Robiskie last week, the feeling was maybe the team was satisfied with some of the options opposite Calvin Johnson and with the possibility of adding help in the draft.

Turns out, the Lions didn’t want Robiskie to go far.

The team has re-signed the wide receiver to a one-year contract, according to Tim Twentyman, who writes for the team’s Web site. While the release and re-signing is not explained, it is likely the Lions did a cut-and-sign with Robiskie to save a few dollars. By releasing him and then re-signing him to a one-year contract, Detroit probably brought him back on a minimum-salary benefit deal that can save the team a few bucks against the salary cap.
