Just how bad is it in Ann Arbor, Michigan? If the past 96 hours are any indication of the sports climate for the Wolverines, then its overcast with no end in sight. On Saturday (Dec. 6) the then 17th ranked Wolverines basketball team lost at home 72-70 to the only Division I Independent left in the country…New Jersey Institute of Technology. Yes, NJIT, and their T-Shirts are selling like hotcakes in East Lansing and Columbus, OH. Bad…right? Not so fast. Michigan lost another home game to another basketball dynamo in Eastern Michigan yesterday 45-42. And Head Coach John Beilein’s response: “There’s no panic button.” Really? Tell that to the alums and the boosters face-to-face. And now for the coup de gras. Word from Ann Arbor has it that Michigan offered the head coaching job for its almighty football program to Duke’s David Cutcliffe…and he turned it down. OUCH! What a great day to be a fan of any other college or university except Michigan.
