On the same day that he was arrested and charged with murder, the Patriots released tight end Aaron Hernandez. At that moment it was clear that any future payment of monies owed would not come easy from New England. The drawing of the battle lines for Hernandez' cash has begun, with Mike Garafalo of FOX Sports reporting the NFLPA is preparing to file a grievance against the Patriots for not paying Hernandez an $82,000 workout bonus.

OGarafalo reports the union believes Hernandez, despite being arrested, satisfied the requirements to receive the bonus from New England. The Patriots didn't comment on whether or not the bonus had been paid or would be paid.

yep, unless the contract is written to the contrary, the patriots are going to have to pay him any/all guaranteed money.
