New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins and linebacker Brandon Spikes were among six players placed on the active/physically unable to perform list Monday. Tight ends Jake Ballard (knee) and Daniel Fells (leg), defensive lineman Myron Pryor (shoulder) and offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back) were also placed on the list, according to ESPN. Mankins suffered a torn ACL in Super Bowl XLVI, while Spikes underwent knee surgery during the offseason. The players’ inclusion on the list likely indicates that they will not be ready to practice when training camp opens Thursday. They can be removed at any time and return to action.
