The New England Patriots have released veteran cornerback Shawn Springs, Springs has played 13 seasons, including last year with the Patriots. For his career, he has registered 701 tackles, 8 1/2 sacks, 33 interceptions, two touchdowns and 141 pass deflections with five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. Springs was signed by the Patriots as a free agent last March and played in 12 games with eight starts last season, finishing with 39 total tackles, one interception and four passes defensed.
