The Oakland Raiders announced that quarterback Carson Palmer restructured his contract to help the team clear space under the salary cap. Details of the Palmer restructure are not yet known. Palmer is signed through the 2014 season and is due $12.5 million in base salary, $5 million of which is guaranteed, with a $1 million roster bonus for the upcoming season. If the Raiders followed the same model as the Seymour and Huff restructures, they could create $10.14 million in cap space by lowering his base salary to $825,000 and combining the remaining $11.675 million with his $1 million roster bonus and treating that amount like a signing bonus, adding two seasons to maximize proration. The amount of players they are going to have to cut and release, like I said before...when all is said and done, they might wind up looking like an expansion team roster.
eh, they could just sign 52 other guys off the street ............ as long as they have Carson, they're a championship team.
I wouldn't be opposed to blowing up this team's roster and just be terrible for another 3-4 years as we build up to something good. As long as Davis is actually committed to McKenzie and will let him stay around for several years, winning or losing, before canning him.
