The St. Louis Rams are down to four healthy linebackers with injuries to Bryan Kehl and Josh Hull so they brought in street free agents David Nixon and Chase Blackburn for visits and tryouts on Tuesday. They're likely to sign at least one of those two in time for practice Wednesday to help on special teams this week against Cleveland according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Nixon was on the Rams' practice squad for five weeks, and then spent the last four weeks on the active roster, appearing in one game (Dec. 12 vs. New Orleans). Blackburn, 28, spent his first six NFL seasons with the New York Gaints, including the 2007 and '08 campaigns there with Steve Spagnuolo. Blackburn (6-3, 247) was known mainly for his special teams work with the Giants, but did start 17 games there from 2005-10.
