Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis will have surgery today in Charlotte to repair his ruptured left Achilles’ tendon, Coach Mike Shanahan said.

The surgery will be done by renowned foot specialist Robert Anderson, Anderson is the same surgeon who repaired the torn Achilles’ tendon of Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs this past spring.

Davis suffered the injury on the first offensive series of Washington’s 27-24 loss to the New York Giants. He hadn’t previously had any problems with his foot. Earlier last week, Davis received treatment for a knee injury, but didn’t miss any practice time.

Davis is expected to require six months to recover, although Suggs made his comeback in five months.
