Site Downtime Coming Soon (Server Move) I just wanted to let everyone know we will be experiencing some site downtime soon. We are preparing to move from the current server and move to our new home. The new server will be an upgrade as we are moving from a shared server to a VPS (Virtual Private Server). The new move will ensure that we will not experience any downtime when we get a surge of traffic on the site. I will keep everyone posted on the progress and when to exactly expect this downtime.
This feels like when I lost Tony Gonzalez. I'm glad it's not permanent. Thank's for the work on the site Steve, and I can't wait until we get back up!
And it's the generosity of our members donating to GIF that helps make this move happen. After the move it will be great to see the site get slammed by thousands of people and not be worried that our server company will shut us down.:applausec:
No not yet. It likely will happen this weekend. I will let everyone know in advance via email so they are not caught by surprise.
How long will it be down for? Will anything change as far as how the site looks or operates? Will all the information stay the same? Threads, Signatures... Just curious... I think my eye is twitching...
Calm down, Ward...calm down. Go take a walk or something. We'll be fine. GIF veterans have had our post counts reset a few times over the years. It has to happen to you at some point :icon_cheesygrin: Just ask Bandi. She should have like 100k by now.
All post counts, rep, vcash, gifts, awards and game scores will reset. Then the rise of the NOOBS will commence! Ahhhhh! :moe: ...or maybe nothing will happen.
