Prior to departing for Washington D.C. Saturday, Jim Harbaugh offered his final public comments regarding the status of wide receiver Michael Crabtree for Monday night's game against Washington.

"I would look at that as a decision over the next 48 hours," he said.

Crabtree's status remains uncertain, although it appears unlikely the team's top pass catcher from 2012 will return this week after suffering a complete tear of his Achilles back in May.

"He's practicing. I think that's in the eye of the beholder and be interpreted or spun a lot of different ways. But he's out there practicing, trying to make progress and working day-to-day," offensive coordinator Greg Roman said this week.

SteveRobWhatever's Take: I can't see Crabtree coming back already. The 49ers are in a must win game and could use him, but rushing him just isn't worth it. The 49ers are more than likely just going to have to find a way to win without him again. This offense has been lethargic thanks to all the injuries to the receivers and Vernon Davis.
