A judge has awarded $1.2 million to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote who says he was the victim of bogus valet contracts at Detroit-area shopping malls.

Attorney Jim Acho says Foote invested more than $400,000 with two men who claimed to have parking contracts at Somerset Collection in Troy and Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi but there were no such deals.

A default judgment was entered against the men, who never responded to the lawsuit. Judge Lita Popke awarded Foote more than $1 million Friday. Under Michigan law, financial damages can be tripled.

If they didn't respond to the lawsuit, what are the chances Foote will see $1 of the awarded damages?

These boys are old enough and have enough money to have attorneys, financial advisors, etc to avoid these types of scams. Unfortunately, they may think that with a big contract comes business knowledge as well.

Im confused, he invested 400,000 in a mall valet business or he paid these guys 400,000 to park his car when he went to the mall?

...Im not sure which is dumber now that I think about it.
