A judge has awarded $1.2 million to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote who says he was the victim of bogus valet contracts at Detroit-area shopping malls. Attorney Jim Acho says Foote invested more than $400,000 with two men who claimed to have parking contracts at Somerset Collection in Troy and Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi but there were no such deals. A default judgment was entered against the men, who never responded to the lawsuit. Judge Lita Popke awarded Foote more than $1 million Friday. Under Michigan law, financial damages can be tripled. If they didn't respond to the lawsuit, what are the chances Foote will see $1 of the awarded damages? These boys are old enough and have enough money to have attorneys, financial advisors, etc to avoid these types of scams. Unfortunately, they may think that with a big contract comes business knowledge as well.
yep, athletes are not financial geniuses ............ they're athletes. the smart ones find good, reliable people to help them.
Im confused, he invested 400,000 in a mall valet business or he paid these guys 400,000 to park his car when he went to the mall? ...Im not sure which is dumber now that I think about it.
