Kevin Acee, San Diego Chargers beat writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting via Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers are the lead teams to land free agent running back, Mike Tolbert. Acee tweets: "Mike Tolbert expected to land in Pittsburgh or Carolina ... I'm told this isn't like Malcom Floyd, who returned last yr after deal was dead." Later in the evening, Acee tweeted that he thought Pittsburgh was the lead candidate to land Tolbert. "I think Pittsburgh is the leader for Tolbert, but how perfect would Carolina be? He'd join Turner, Brees, Sproles, Jackson in NFC South." According to Tolbert's agent, he is scheduled to meet with an undisclosed team on Saturday morning. Source: Kevin Acee via Twitter
I think I'd seriously take him over Mendenhall at this point...depending on the cash Tolbert is looking for. I hear the Niners are in the mix as well.
