The Bears did not make a play for veteran Donovan McNabb last week and did not discuss possibilities even after McNabb became an unrestricted free agent. But with Caleb Hanie turning in his worst performance as a starter or backup, and Josh McCown not deemed ready enough after more than a week of orientation with the offense, sources told CSNChicago.com that the Bears will be in conversations Monday about bringing the longtime standout with Philadelphia in as Hanie’s backup. Conversations do not equate to “negotiationsâ€￾ or serious talks, but McCown has not played his way past rookie Nathan Enderle after 10 days and has not established a comfort level with coaches, receivers or the system yet.
