Some simple things we ask of you here in our start sit question and answer forum.

  1. Do not list your entire roster and ask us who to start or sit. We can’t help you if you don’t first help yourself. Please limit the question to one or two positions.
  2. Ask your start sit question in this format: Player name, opponent and point configuration. An example: Should I start Aaron Rogers versus the Bears or Brady versus Detroit? Standard scoring. Another Example: Should I start Welker versus Baltimore or Fitz versus Seattle? PPR scoring. Try to keep the start sit question clear and to the point. It also helps to list your players opponent and your scoring format.
  3. Start or sit questions and answers can be answered by anyone here so if you have the clear path to the correct answer please speak up and post your comment!

  1. Businsky says:

I'm struggling to figure out if I should start Tim Hightower over Felix Jones for my RB 3 slot. We're in a 14 team league. I just don't feel like I can trust Hightower and feel Jones is going to make a good showing.

Tim Hightower plays Carolina – ESPN projections and SI.com project approximately 11 points
Felix Jones plays Seattle – ESPN and SI.com project approximately 7-8 points

Your site is great and your help would be appreciated.

    • tygr20 says:

Unfortunately, you're going to have to choose the lesser of two evils. Hightower is losing carries to Beanie, who is slowly developing into a threat. Felix is still playing like he's banged up, and is experiencing what Derrick Ward did last year in a three back rotation. Some nights he's primed to go off, but won't get the ball very often because Barber and Choice will be firing on all cylinders.

If I were picking for my team, I'd give Hightower a slight edge because Beanie is likely to cough it up a time or two, and I don't think Wisenhunt trusts him on the goal line for that reason. This is purely a gut call. Go with your first instinct.

  2. Lance F says:

    Kurt Warner or Kyle Orton?

My league's scoring: 2 points per 100yd passing and 10 points for 300yds and the usual 6 points per TD (it really sucks in my opinion, but it saved me last week when I was up against Drew Brees and he got 298yds).

    • Top_Fantasy says:

Kyle Orton is projected for more points than Warner this week but man it's hard to Bench Warner. My gut says start Orton.. Baltimore isn't so tough through the air.

  3. Businsky says:

I would go with Warner against Carolina. I really don't see Orton getting 300 yards on Baltimore. I could be biased since I'm a Ravens fan, but mark my words, coming off their bye, Bmore will have something planned for Denver.

  4. tygr20 says:

I was just offered Welker for Jacobs and Devery. Should I pull the trigger?

  5. eddie says:

would you do this trade? 12 man/non ppr/no flex position

i get: calvin johnson, gates, and barber or pierre thomas
he gets: steve smith/nyg, witten, and deangelo williams

my rb is benson (only start 1 rb)
my wrs are r white and welker (only start 2 wrs)

i kinda like it because i upgrade my te slightly and steve smith is slipping lately. only thing is if benson starts to fall off i take a hit with barber or pierre thomas.

  6. Bill says:

Have a question about a flex position. Scoring is 10yrds=1pt, 6pts for TD + KR and PR TD's also 6pt
Have to start 1 Malcolm Floyd vs. Oak, Hightower vs Car (already starting Beanie wells) or James Jones vs MN
Could pick up Crayton vs. Sea, Washington vs Jax or my wild card would be Mike Thomas against those crappy Titans. I have lame duck Kevin Faulk on my bench so I wouldn't have to drop any of those guys.
    Thanks for your help!

  7. Top_Fantasy says:

Walker is money this week start him.

Cant answer other questions unless I know if you're PPR or not…

If you're PPR role with Slayton – if not start CJ

Trade the RB with the toughest schedule during the playoffs =)

  8. Top_Fantasy says:

    Berrian stays on your bench.

    Bench Barber this week

    Jets D

support us and buy the dominator =)

  9. J D says:

    Standard Leauge
    Which Denfense should I start
    Vikes V. GB
    Bills V. Hou
    SeaHawks V. Dal

    • Top_Fantasy says:

Vikes V. GB – Rodgers will get sacked over and over and over again. Green will play and he will fumble right after he tears his quad, mcl and acl just because he planted his foot to run.

  10. Justin says:

TE: Greg olsen or Vernon davis?
    QB: Garrard or Warner?
RBWR: Andre Johnson, Kenny Britt, or Braylon Edwards or Shonn Greene? (I have thomas jones as my RB already)

any advice would be greatly appreciated

  11. Tod says:

16 team PPR. Can use flex with RB, WR or TE. Have LT( raiders), Hightower( panthers) and Julius Jones(cowboys). Also, Jennings(Viks), Royal(Ravens), Bryant Johnson(Rams), Earl Bennett( Browns), Danny Amendola(Lions).

Should I start 2 RBS and 4 WRs ( if so, who??) OR 3 RBs and 3 WRs (if so who??)

Thanks for any and all help

    • Top_Fantasy says:

start Hightower since he will get the most touches in that group this week. LT is another good option but my gut is starting to pull away from him more and more each week. Royal and Jennings are your strongest WR's.

    • Top_Fantasy says:

      start

      Davis (stud now for sure)
Garrard (should get you 3 td easy)
I like Johnson but he is a small risk.. so put Greene in and you're a lock to score a TD with Jones or Greene or maybe both

  13. Fantasy Rookie says:

Need some help… I have Andre Johnson and am wondering if I should bench him with his injury. I could put in an extra rb in his place, but am not sure which ones to start any ways. I have Beanie Wells vs: Carolina, Ricky Williams vs. NYJ, Marshawn Lynch vs. Houston, Shonne Greene vs. Miami. I could start three of them in place of Andre. Standard League 1pt. per 10yds. rushing/recieving. 6pts. TDs. Oh and I could grab Hightower if it makes sense. Thanks a ton!

    • Top_Fantasy says:

start Marshawn Lynch all day man!

      • Ray04 says:

I dunno about that. Lynch is averaging 2.8 yards all season, struggeled against Cleveland of all teams, stuggeled against the Jets, and had trouble locating the gaps against Carolina despite his solo TD and paltry 40 yards, and the Texans are pretty good at stopping the run.

I would go with Wells, IF you sit Johnson, which you shouldn't.

The lung bruise is fine, the stafff and Johnson himself says he is 100% ready to go. he's the number two Fantasy Reciever overall and shouldn't be on your bench unless he is wearing a leg cast, sunglasses, and laying on a stretcher in traction.

  14. Dan says:

I picked up Shonn Greene and LeSean McCoy. Who should i start in place of westbrook? My other RB is S. Jackson? Also, if westbrook does play, is he even worth a shot, or should i stick with one of the rookies?

I need to pick two WRs of Lee Evans vs HOU, Jacoby Jones vs BUF (I get pts for return yards-he avgs around 10 pts a game in my league), or Austin Collie vs SF. I also have Earl Bennet (vs CLE) riding the pine. Sidney Rice is my WR1.

One more question for my other team: Braylon edwards vs MIA, Austin Collie vs SF, or Johnny Knox vs CLE. Already starting Jennings and Burleson.

    Thanks you guys are awesome

    • Top_Fantasy says:

Greene has a tough matchup and I'd like to see him go hard one more week so start McCoy.

I like Jones this week versus GBY – AND COLLIE is a must start

  15. Meyers says:

Standard scoring – start QB Flacco vs DEN or Schaub vs Bills? and TE Olson vs CLE or Lewis vs TEN? Thanks!!!

  16. Peter says:

Which 2 WR's should I play out of: Manningham, Burleson & Macklin?

  17. Jason says:

    Standard league flex spot:
    Lynch or S.Smith (car) ??

I got LT/Sproles/Boldin/Sidney Rice for sure…can't decide on my flex spot..thanks

  18. Jeff says:

Hey guys, was wondering if I should start Schaub at Buffalo or Romo at home vs. Seattle. Thanks.

  19. mike says:

im torn at the flex position . should i use..

Mike bell at home against atlanta
felix jones at home against seattle
    kenny britt vs the jags

    which two???

  20. J D says:

PPR League Which TE should I play
    Marcedes Lewis Jac V. Ten
    Or
    John Carlson Sea V. Dal

  21. scott says:

Hey guys. ppr league…. do you like the jets vs miami or the pack vs, vikings. thanks!

  22. scott says:

Hey guys. Just found out that Westbrook is out. it's a standard league, do you like Cotchery vs Miami or Buchalter aginst Baltimore in the flex. I know lousy choices, but the rest are on byes and no one on the wire!

  23. tygr20 says:

I've got an empty roster spot.
RBs are Rice, Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Portis and McCoy.
WRs are Roddy, Welker, Driver, Harvin, Mason, and Nicks.
Only bye player I have left is Nicks- who should I fill that spot with?
Manningham, FJax, Caddy, Mike Wallace, Bowe, Choice, Buckhalter, Bell, or Megatron?

  24. J D says:

    PPR Leauge Flex Spot Start
    Calvin Johnson Det V. SEA
    Jamaal Charles KC V. JAC
    Mike Bell NO V. CAR

  25. Mark says:

I have a questiong someone may have some insight too…

I went and picked up R. Moats because of the whole S. Slaton situation…….and was wondering, Do I go ahead and start S. Slaton & R. Moats?

Or do I start R. Moats and my other running back not on a bye which is Beanie Wells?

HOU plays IND this week, while ARI plays CHI.

    Regular scoring

    Thanks!

    • Top_Fantasy says:

I like Moats in standard league since he should continue to get goal line.. but man it's really a freaking coin flip!!! we won't know until after the game how the split will work out.

    • Top_Fantasy says:

      can you trade slayton?

      • Mark says:

Not sure I can trade him…….there are only 8 of us, and most of us are really anal reteintive when it comes to trades or getting rid of a player lol…there should be a few I can pick up on a waiver but most if not all the good RB's are already taken.

Currently I have Moats, Slaton, Wells, and Greene as my running backs. Any suggestions? lol

        Thanks Top!

  26. Peter says:

I have a flex spot that I need to fill. who should I put in it out of: Mendenhall, Slaton, Maclin or Manningham?

  27. Jeremy says:

I need to choose between three players for one RB position:

    Slaton @ Indy
    Moats @ Indy
    Maroney vs. Miami

    What do you think?

    • Jeremy says:

      Forgot to mention: Standard scoring

    • Ray04 says:

You sir get the hardest question of the week award! I would definitely NOT start Maroney…..Slaton will be part of a RBBC but is still a favorite in my book. Wiat for other opinions though, this is a big question :)

    • Top_Fantasy says:

      Slaton @ Indy
      Moats @ Indy

both are a coin flip… I think Slayton has the most promise to explode after getting benched! He will catch more dump off passes as they play from behind too!

  28. Fantasy Rookie says:

Quick question… Maroney (NE) vs. Miami or Ricky Williams (Miami) vs. NE

  29. Lance says:

Who should I start along with MJD at RB this week? Standard scoring system.
    Ryan Moats vs. IND
    Don Brown vs. HOU
    Buckhalter vs. PIT

  30. dirty says:

I really appreciate that you guys take the time to give advice to anyone in need. It's always nice to hear a second opinion. Unfortunately, my once-great team has taken some shots lately, so I have lots of questions for week 9 -
1 QB – Big Ben or Cutler
    2 RBs – Westbrook, L. McCoy, S. Slaton, M. Bell, M. Forte, J. Charles
3 WRs – Colston, Megatron, Walter, Breaston, Nicks, Maclin
1 TE – Winslow or Fred Davis
    Thanks again!

    • Top_Fantasy says:

      start as follows:

      Cutler against ARIZON is nice!
2 RBs – Westbrook, M. Forte, J. Charles all are nice – you didn't state how your league scores so….
3 WRs – Colston, Nicks, Maclin are all good plays
      1 TE – Winslow

next time let us know if you're PPR

    • Chris Todish says:

I agree with Kurt on everything except the WR's. I would start Colston, Maclin and Breaston this week, Breaston should start opposite Fitzgerald this week and everytime Boldin is out this guy has a big game…..I mean, let's face it, teams are going to give Breaston more room to work than Fitzgerald, and we all know the Cards will throw the ball a ton…..although, Nicks is a killer WR! Your in a better spot than most people, because they should all get targeted throughout their respective match-ups, but Manningham should be returning to take some of his looks back.

  31. Jason says:

BIG BEN @ DEN or RIVERS VS. THE BOYS IN BLUE for week 9???

  32. Kate says:

Eagles D/ST vs Dallas, or Saints D/ST vs the Broncos?

  33. Ryan says:

Start Mike Bell or Celek at Flex? Standard scoring. Need points this week bad!

Also, been offered Calvin Johnson for Sidney Rice. Do I take it? Johnson hasn't done jack since the first 3 weeks while Rice has been golden for me. Worried that Johnson is planning on taking it easy the rest of the season since he knows Detroit isn't going anywhere. What do you think?

    • Ray04 says:

Thomas is the clear choice especially at the goaline (not Bell) making him more valuable than bell in Standard league play. brent Celek should continue to have a break out season and shows no signs of slowing down.

Calvin Johnson can't seem to shke his knee injury, and when he comes back there is no garuntee he will be a big time play/ Under no circumstances should you trade Sidney Rice. he is already on the cusp of exceeding his Fantasy projection and you can bet as Favre gets more comfortable with him he will continue to be money for ya!

  34. Scott says:

    Hey guys,

Who should I start out in a PPR league:
2 RBs: Cedric Benson, LT, Jamaal Charles
2 WRs: DeSean Jackson, Hines Ward, Steve Smith (NYG), Derrick Mason
    1 Flex

    Thank you for your time!

    • Ray04 says:

I would start benson for sure, amlong with L.T. until we see what Charles has to bring to the table.

I would also start Jackson for sure and Ward.

For a flex I would give Smith the nod

  35. Jason says:

    Standard League:
    2 RB: LT/Sproles/Maroney
    2 WR: Manningham/Boldin/Crabtree/Walter/Floyd
    1 RB/WR FLEX

    thanks!

    • Ray04 says:

      Start both Chargers' RBs.

For your WR I would go withCrabtree and Walter with Floyd as your Flex….it sounds odd not to mention Boldin or manningham, but their injuries are making them to risky as each day passes.

  36. Freshfaith says:

Who do I sit? We start 3 running backs in a 10 team league. Our scoring system is 1 point for every 10 yards on the ground, 1 point for every 12 yards receiving, 6 points for TDs and no PPR.

I have to choose between Frank Gore vs. TN, Ray Rice vs. Cincy, Pierre Thomas vs. Carolina, and Matt Forte vs. AZ.

My thought is to sit Forte, but thought I might get someone else's opinion

  37. J D says:

    Who should I start
    Matt Schaub v. Ind
    David Garrard v. KC

    • Ray04 says:

Matt Schaub. Indy is very, very tough against the pass but Shcaub is just reeling right now and he has more targets than Garrard! Jacksonville could also go with a more run oriented game lessening the chances of him being a better start than Schaub.

  38. Dan says:

Thanks for all the help dudes, i gotta rough bye and have a few questions:
QB: Shaub vs indy or palmer vs bal?
RB: I need to start two, I have westbrook and mccoy against dallas, Maroney at miami, and i just snagged jamal charles.
WR: already starting Jennings and Burleson, who should be my third: Collie vs HOU, Maclin vs DAL, Malcom floyd at the G-men, or Johnny Knox? (This is in a different league, i have Hightower in a flex spot that i can bench if two of these receivers are likely to blow up this week)
    Muchas gracias my friends.

  39. Bill says:

I need a RB and A Flex position out of the following Scoring is 10yrds=1pt and 6pt TD not PPR
Hightower &Wells Vs Chi, Charles Vs. Jax, Floyd Vs. NYG, Wallace Vs. Den.
I also have Donald Brown but it looks like he might still be on the mend after he didn't practice today.
    Thanks for all your help!

    • Ray04 says:

I like Hightower since he leads all RBs with 39 receptions which could help you in the endzone and in yards as well as Floyd vs. the Giants

  40. Meyers says:

    Standard scoring league
I don't like either of my QB matchups this week. Who would you start? Flacco vs CIN or Schaub vs IND?
I'm also stuck in the RBBC mess with HOU. My RBs are Moats, Slaton and Forte vs ARI. I need to start 2. Any suggestions here? Thanks!

    • Ray04 says:

I would start Schaub and for your RBs I would start both Moats and Slaton. Arizona had one bad game against the run but they are still king at stopping it making Forte very risky.

  41. scott says:

Ok guys, PPR League, Gates vs. Giants or Carlson vs. Lions…. Standard league…Bradshaw vs. Chargers or Cadillac vs. Packers in the flex. As always thanks in advance!

  42. scott says:

I'm one of the many that are suffering from then Owen Daniels injury. Who do you like off the wire…. Ben Watson,Kevin Boss,or Spencer Havner(packers)? I know, not very good options!

    • Top_Fantasy says:

Watson (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The Dolphins will be starting two rookie corners this week, an area the Patriots are likely to target in the passing game this weekend so I cant say Watson. Havner is the TD coin flip and Boss is another maybe.

Go Havner if Finely is out.. otherwise start Boss.

  44. joeizgodtou says:

i know its late but i thought i had what i was going to do but i dont. two things. RB and WR. My league is a PPR league with 2 RB RB/WR flex spot and 2 WR____
I have LT, Ray Rice, C. Portis, Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell ( thomas backup) ____
the WR's I have is Andre Johson (OBVIOUSLY), Mario Manningham (hes playin), Hakeem Nicks, Josh Morgan ( san fran, i know its crazy) ,
____I need 2 RBs a RB/WR flex spot and 2 WRs….i usually put a RB in the flex spot, please if anyone sees
this please help. check this though. Im in a 10 team league.
__I was gonna do LT, Ray Rice, Portis…Andre Johnson and Manningham, but i was actually questioning hakeem nicks instead. anyway. what do you guys think?

  45. tygr20 says:

Oddly enough, my string of good luck continues. Dropped Portis for ATL defense yesterday since I was worried about the Colts against Houston. Good move on my part considering Portis left with a concussion. Should I drop Megatron and grab Betts before anyone else can? Don't need another RB, but my main opponent is light on RBs. Don't want to leave a quality guy out there.

    • Kurt says:

Na I'd stick with Megatron. Washington sucks and Portis will be back in a week or two, I think. Let your boy pick up Betts then make the wrong call with him on game day.

  46. J D says:

Should I trade Calvin Johnson since hes not doing anything or keep him and see what happens???

  47. Mark says:

    I have a question.

Mike Bell is available on the waivers list for my league. I currently have Slaton, Moats, Wells, and Greene.

Should I perhaps get rid of one of these in exchange for Mike Bell?

    Thanks!

    • tygr20 says:

Carries split against Carolina: Pierre- 23, Bell- 8. Pierre is the main option. The only guy I'd consider for a second to drop for Bell would be Greene, but if something happens to TJones(fumblitis, injury) you'll wish you had him back. I say stick with your 4.

  48. Troy G says:

I was offered D. Bowe for C. Johnson in a non-keeper, standard scoring league. Should I accept this trade?

  49. eddie says:

    Who to start this week?

    Cedric Benson @ PIT
    Marion Barber @ GB
    Rashard Mendenhall vs CIN

    • Top_Fantasy says:

I'd start Mendenhall, I don't care how good CIN is versus the run. PIT is opening up hug holes and he is very strong and fast. PIT shut down the Broncos so I'm low on Benson. Barber is a good start but shares time with three other backs..

    • tygr20 says:

Easy answer? Benson has been the most consistent of the three. Tough answer: Barber is losing carries to Felix and Choice, and some redzone carries too(see the Wildcat TD run for Choice against Philly). It's between Benson and Mendenhall, IMO, and I'd go with Cedric.

  50. tygr20 says:

Non-PPR league- Normally, starting Roddy over Harvin would be a no-brainer. Roddy's at Carolina this week- their secondary is playing great, and I can see Turner chewing them up on the ground instead of letting Ryan throw a few picks. Would you start Percy against Detroit in Minnesota? I think he's more likely to get a TD(be it through the air or on a return) than Roddy this week.
