Here's Fantasy Knuckleheads 2012 QB Rankings. I used our Projection Worksheet to calculate these rankings. The system pulls in the players last 32 (or most available) games played, aligns that data with projected stats from various sources then averages that will my projected stats. I'll then review the projections, player by player, and make statistical changes where needed. I consider the following variables when making changes to the computer generated statistics / QB Rankings.
- Injury risk (example: Peyton "4 neck surgeries" Manning)
- Fluke stats from the previous year (example: Cam Newton's first season, his regression was really bad toward the end)
- Strength of Schedule
- Coaching Changes
- Team additions or subtractions
- And good old fashioned gut feelings!
With that said, here's my rankings for the 2012 Quarterbacks. I'll update this as needed, with most changes probably happening in the lower ranks.
Rank | Player | Team | Notes |
1 | Tom Brady | NE | So many weapons, he will challenge for the passing title. |
2 | Aaron Rodgers | GB | A very close second, but Tom's upside is just a bit higher. |
3 | Michael Vick | PHI | A full off season for Vick and his team to gel, you can get him in later rounds too. |
4 | Matthew Stafford | DET | Could end up in the top 3… rushing #'s put Vick and Cam ahead.. For now.. |
5 | Drew Brees | NO | He will regress this year, but still top 5 guy. |
6 | Cam Newton | CAR | His rushing totals will drop, but still rushing pnts add up in fantasy big time. |
7 | Matt Ryan | ATL | I put him here as if Julio Jones stays healthy. |
8 | Eli Manning | NYG | Manningham's departure will settle him back to his normal good/average stats. |
9 | Tony Romo | DAL | Keeps putting up good stats, but will he break 34 or 35 TD this year? Doubt it. |
10 | Ben Roethlisberger | PIT | Mendenhall out equals early season passing totals. |
11 | Philip Rivers | SD | I want to rank higher, V. Jackson gone hurts, as well as Gates injury concerns. |
12 | Robert Griffin III | WAS
13 | Jay Cutler | CHI | If his O-Line can protect he could finished a couple spots higher. |
14 | Peyton Manning | DEN | Too many questions, but I LIKE risk if the draft position is right. |
15 | Josh Freeman | TB | Many upgrades during the offseason make this year promising. |
16 | Carson Palmer | OAK | Fastest WR corp in the NFL, he could finish in the lower top 10. |
17 | Ryan Fitzpatrick | BUF
18 | Jake Locker | TEN | Would rank him above Fitz if I knew he was starting week 1. |
19 | Matt Schaub | HOU | This is a rushing team, plus AJ concerns here, he's getting old and oft injured. |
20 | Alex Smith | SF | You would expect big numbers this season, but he hasn't proven it yet. |
21 | Sam Bradford | STL | I'm just thinking this will be his turning year, Jeff Fisher will turn this team around. |
22 | Joe Flacco | BAL | Mathew Berry has Flacco and Torrey Smith high on his list, I'm just not feeling it. |
23 | Andy Dalton | CIN | Ever here of Softmore Slump? |
24 | Andrew Luck | IND | Could have a year like Andy Dalton did last year.. Could… |
25 | Christian Ponder | MIN
26 | Matt Cassel | KC | |
27 | Matt Flynn | SEA | Will be interesting to see what he does ******* Big fat sleeper pick ********* |
28 | Mark Sanchez | NYJ | Tebow will steal goal line rushing TD's, bank on it. |
29 | Brandon Weeden | CLE | |
30 | Matt Moore | MIA | |
31 | Blaine Gabbert | JAC | |
32 | Ryan Tannehill | MIA |
