With only one more day until the 2012 season kicks off, it's time for my first 2012 Week One Tight End Rankings. There are a few players I will be looking out for this weekend. Obviously the biggest question is who is the No. 1 option between Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski? I think you might be a bit surprised at who I have sitting as the king of tight ends this week.
Aside from the No. 1 option, I will also have my eye on a few other guys. Can Jacob Tamme play like he and Peyton Manning never skipped a beat? How will Vernon Davis fair with all those wide receivers? Will the Colts make Coby Fleener their primary pass-catching tight end? Or will they mimic the Patriots and get Dwayne Allen involved heavily as well? We shall see. As an Eagles fan, I'd also like to see if the Eagles will continue to make Brent Celek a big part of the offense, or if he will be in as more of a blocking tight end due to their offensive line woes on the left side of the line. Can Jake Locker finally make it big and turn Jared Cook into a stud? So many questions that will, hopefully, be answered by next Tuesday morning.
So without further adieu, here are my tight ends rankings. And as always make sure to check out the rest of the positional rankings in our Rankings Section of the site.
