2013 Fantasy Football Draft Rankings – RB Standard Scoring

August 15, 2013 by Kurt Turner

Our 2013 Running Back draft rankings are loaded this year. This is standard scoring rankings, not PPR. Several rookies to keep an eye on this year with the top 3 being Lacy, Ball and Bernard. Being drafted lower than these guys is D. Richardson. He's going to be the lead back for the Rams and produced staggering numbers when his O-Line created lanes. His current APD is around the 115th pick in the draft, so you have no reason whatsoever not to draft him this year. He one of the few running backs that have a good shot to "come out of no where" and produce top 20 numbers.

I'd really like to move Eddie Lacy into the top 20, and Bell and Ball too. They have incredible opportunity to produce RB 1 type numbers but there's so many options ahead of them that I trust more therefore the rankings reflect that vote of confidence. Keep in mind these are not PPR Rankings, they are standard scoring rankings for your fantasy football draft.
I believe that Alfred Morris is being undervalued. He generated the second highest total of rushing yards, and the second most rushing TDs last season. Plus, he was consistent, delivering double digit fantasy points in 12 regular season games. He also consistently gains yardage after contact, and owners should be placing more confidence in him.
With the news that Le'Veon Bell has suffered a Lisfranc injury, that may or may not need surgery, he moves down to the 50s in my most recent rankings. Because he was so inconsistent, I refuse to push Isaac Redman up as anything more than waiver-wire fodder. The team will likely head towards a committee with Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and La'Rod Stephens-Howling.
As few notes for everyone as we move forward: 1. Jonathan Stewart has been placed on the active PUP list. this give a big green light for DeAngelo Williams to have a bigger than expected season. 2. Jamaal Charles suffered a foot injury but the Chiefs are saying very little right now. It is paramount we all keep our finger on the pulse regarding this matter. 3. C.J. Spiller could be utilized more than many think in the early goings, especially with a rookie QB under center. I really like his chances of being a Top 5 back early in the season. 4. Lamar Miller is another explosive back with a ton of potential, but he continues to worry the Miami brass with his ball security issues. If he can fix this issue, you'll see a spike in his ranking. 5. Alfred Morris is no joke! He is an underrated back who many feel can only play out of a zone-read offense which is BS. Only Adrian Peterson and Doug Martin had more yards after contact than Morris in 2012, and Washington expects to use Morris just as much, if not more, this year than in 2012.
