2013 Fantasy Football Draft Rankings – WR Standard Scoring

August 19, 2013 by Kurt Turner

Here's our standard scoring  (non-PPR) WR draft rankings. Fantasy Football made easy, just the way you like it. Wide receiver depth is plentiful this year and there's several training camp battles and rising rookies to monitor prior to your fantasy football draft. None have the potential to produce like AJ Green did his rookie year, but they could prove useful in many fantasy leagues.

Jordy Nelson's knee surgery dropped him down a bit , and raised James Jones in these draft rankings. Since it's standard scoring, and not PPR, keep that in mind. The rookies are all pretty much ranked around the mid 40's but have top 30 potential, on average. Miles Austin will probably produce higher than I have him listed, but his hamstring history has me ranking him a bit lower than most fantasy football sites. And TY Hilton will likely rise soon, check back later in the preseason for updated fantasy football draft rankings.
A few notes for everyone as we move through the week: 1.  Josh Gordon is suspended until WK3 which will hurt his overall output, but it could lead to an uptick from Greg Little. If Gordon doesn't shape up though, he could wind up being a non-factor this season. 2. Jordy Nelson is Questionable for WK1 (as of 8/12/2013), hence his low ranking. His ranking will reflect any positive news we hear in the coming weeks. This bodes VERY WELL for Randall Cobb and James Jones though. 3. Andrew Hawkins is likely to be designated for IR Recall. This means he will play this season if this happens, but it won't be until WK8. His ankle DOES NOT need surgery. Either way, Mohamed Sanu is STILL a very underrated player. He will be the starting WR opposite of A.J. Green and he is said to be 100% recovered from his fractured foot. 4. Cecil Shorts brings a lot to the table, but I hate the QB situation in Jacksonville right now, and that goes for Mr. Blackmon too. Both players could wind up being dicey starts for the majority of the season. 5. Sidney Rice is still a very questionable player. I have him initially listed at 50, but his troublesome knee continues to be...well trouble. He recently under went another procedure to "fix" the problem, but we won't know anything concrete for a while. You can do better than Rice at the moment.
Pierre Garcon is currently being undervalued by owners. He demonstrated that he can adeptly execute the responsibilities of being Washington's WR1 in 2012. Both through his proficiency, and his ability to perform amid a painful injury. The Redskins certainly need him, as the team was 9-1 when he was in the lineup. And Washington suffers from a massive drop off at WR beyond the sixth-year wideout.
