LenDale White of the Tennessee Titans reported to camp this week in rare form, 30 pounds lighter than last season. When asked how he cut so much weight, White credited his new-found sobriety: "I was a big Patron consumer...that's what it was, I was drinking a lot...I cut that out of my diet all the way".
Even with his drop in weight, White still weighs in at 228 pounds. My biggest concern would be the loss of power that could accompany such a dramatic loss of girth. White carved out a niche for himself last year alongside rookie phenom and top fantasy performer Chris Johnson as the short-yardage banger and goal-line runner, but will a smaller version be as good in those situations?
This is something to keep a close eye on during the preseason as the implications could be huge for both White and Johnson. If the slim-down has improved White's speed without compromising his trademark power he could steal a few more carries between the 20's. However, if he comes out with significantly less power Johnson's value could vault into the stratosphere as he begins to get more goal-line carries.
