Adam Caplan on Twitter has reported that Rams' receiver Danny Amendola is done for the season with not only his dislocated elbow, but also torn triceps.
This is terrible news for fantasy owners since up until a day ago all signs pointed to Amendola returning after the Rams' week 5 bye.
But with every dark cloud, does come a silver lining.
This news means that current starter Mike Sims-Walker is bound to see more work as a starter, and rookies Greg Salas and Austin Pettis are set to see their fantasy potential increase after this week's bye.
Mike Sims-Walker hasn't looked himself through four weeks but will have this week to get back on track, and soak in the fact that he will probably be the number one guy on the field for the remainder of the season.
Greg Salas struggled through his first two starts, but the Rams will still get him into the mix as the other compliment receiver on the end, and that could work in his favor in the next few weeks.
Austin Pettis has continued to take reps with the first team exclusively showing that the Rams are preparing him for a sudden starting gig. Pettis will primarily be utilized as a slot receiver in the Rams' offense, so his value right now is capped at deeper PPR league formats only, but you should definitely keep him on your watch list.
After this week's bye, the Rams face the Packers (ranked 30th against the pass), the Cowboys (ranked 15th against the pass), New Orleans (ranked 19th against the pass) and Arizona (ranked 26th against the pass), so there is plenty of upside for those of you in deeper formats that have a waiver wire that has probably been picked clean.
