The Center position has been absolutely dominated by one man over the past few seasons and his nickname is “Superman.” But this year seems a bit different; Dwight Howard is not even in the top 5 in rebounding, but if becoming a more efficient scorer as well. In my opinion, there have been 2 or 3 other centers this season I would rather have at the moment than Dwight Howard. Here is the fantasy basketball rankings for centers so far this season.
Fantasy Basketball Centers:
1. Al Horford- shooting over 63% from the field mixed with 206 points and 106 rebounds makes Horford the number one center at the moment.
2. Joakim Noah- 154 points, 129 rebounds and 17 blocks for Noah. These statistics will not be the same when Boozer comes back, but for the time being Joakim Noah is really doing a great job for the Bulls.
3. Al Jefferson- 195 points, 104 rebounds and 17 blocks; this seems eerily familiar to Noah’s stats, understand Jefferson will most likely jump Noah when Boozer comes back and if Millsap can continue his greatness at the power forward for the Jazz.
4. Dwight Howard- I know, I know, ranking Howard at 4th is a real knock on what he has done so far with the Magic, but when expectations are so high and some of his numbers are not, this is where he lies for the moment: 212 points, 109 rebounds and 28 blocks.
5. Marcus Camby- only 88 points looks like a bad start for most centers, but Marcus Camby has really helped his fantasy owners with their expectations they had in the pre-season. The Camby Man also has 131 rebounds, 25 assists and 19 blocks to take over the center position for the Blazers for the rest of the year.
6. Andrew Bogut- Other than points, rebounds and blocks, Bogut’s other numbers have literally disappeared and that is why he lands at number 6 on this list: 127 points, 113 rebounds and 25 blocks.
7. Emeka Okafor- He would be higher on this list except for his production in the rebound category. The Hornets are playing unbelievable basketball behind top PG Chris Paul, and is very much helping the intermediate success of Okafor: 118 points, [only] 93 rebounds and 23 blocks.
8. Andrea Bargnani- Bargnani this season has been an absolute “bargain.” 249 points is really astounding for him, but he seems to be the first option in the Raptors offense this season. Bargnani also has 49 FT made and 16 3-pointers to go along with his campaign so far.
9. Serge Ibaka- So far this season Ibaka has been the “surge” the Thunder have needed. 133 points, 87 rebounds and 29 [wow] blocks have led the Thunder behind Westbrook and Durant.
10. Roy Hibbert- He has really done it all this year and in the weeks to come should move right up this list. Next to Collison and Granger, Hibbert has really stepped up this year: 147 points, 92 rebounds, 31 assists and 25 blocks.
11. Marc Gasol- Obviously this Gasol has no issue competing with the back up center in Thabeet, because Marc has this job won: 131 points, 82 rebounds, 29 assists, 17 steals and 10 blocks.
12. Brook Lopez- It is very unexpected to see Brook’s name so far down this list, but to be honest he really has not been that impressive this year, and the projections had him much higher on most peoples center’s lists: 197 points, 64 rebounds, 12 assists and 21 blocks.
13. Tyson Chandler- What a great acquisition for the Mavericks in the offseason, Chandler has helped them in rebounding and post defense since the day he got there: 82 points, 81 rebounds and 15 blocks.
14. DeMarcus Cousins- When the term “raw talent” comes up, only one center falls under that category and that is DeMarcus Cousins. His numbers so far this season have not impressed me a whole lot, but I really like what he is doing out there: 108 points, 66 rebounds, 12 assists, 9 steals and 8 blocks.
15. Nene Hilario- Year in and year out, Nene has been a very solid player for the Nuggets rebounding-core; this year has been no different: 101 points, 46 rebounds and 16 assists.
Notable Mention in our fantasy basketball rankings for center: Brad Miller, Chris Kaman, Andris Biedrins, Darko Millicic, Channing Frye and Udonis Haslem
