The tight end position continues to evolve in the NFL season, and now that everyone's played eight games we can feel a little bit better about projecting stats out over the rest of the season.
What we can't project, though, is injuries. The loss of Owen Daniels undoubtedly hurt his owners, who are likely looking for a replacement via trade still. What other tight ends can, and will, get hurt we don't know, but that's the spark of fantasy football. The gamble is on the potential and likely production, not hoping against injury.
Some struggling defenses will be tested by quality tight ends this week, which could make for big fantasy weeks from the position again. Despite Jon Gruden's love for the wild cat, the tight end is this year's trendy offensive revolution. This week should be another highlight reel from the position.
Only the Giants and Texans have a bye this week, so Kevin Boss owners will need to surf the waiver wire for help. Let's rank some tight ends.

Week 10 – TE Start of the Week – Vernon Davis, SF |
| IN three weeks since the Niners' bye, Davis has 20 catches for 215 yards and four touchdowns. Last week, against the Titans, he caught ten balls for 102 yards. He's obviously becoming Alex Smith's primary target in an emerging passing game since Michael Crabtree signed, and they will feast on an underachieving Chicago defense on Thursday night. |

A Few More Fantasy Studs To Play In Week 10 |

| Jeremy Shockey, NO @ StL | St. Louis is... just bad. Shockey has re-established himself as a premier TE in New Orleans and could have a solid week at the expense of perhaps the worst team in the NFL. If he doesn't get the ball in the red zone I would be shocked. |
| Tony Gonzalez, ATL @ CAR | The Panthers have really struggled defensively this year, and this is a big divisional game for the Falcons. Gonzalez is having another great season, and is Matt Ryan's best red zone target. |
| Kellen Winslow, TAM @ MIA | This is an ideal game to get Winslow on the field. Tampa finally won a game, and their rookie quarterback was smart enough to find Winslow in the end zone. Winslow played his college ball at The U, so returning to Miami after a good performance could lead to another big week. |
| Antonio Gates, SD vs. PHI | As long as Philip Rivers is happy throwing the ball, and the Chargers fail trying to run it, Gates will be a good fantasy play. Vincent Jackson has stolen some of Gates' touches in the red zone, but this could be a good week for Gates against a Philly defense that has given up some good days to opposing TEs this year. |
| Jason Witten, DAL @ GB | Witten might have lost touches to the wide receivers in Dallas early this season, but the Packers have a couple stud corners and Tony Romo might need to look up his best friend more often this week. |

Week 10 – TE Sleeper of the Week - Brent Celek, PHI |
| Celek and the Eagles head to San Diego to play a Chargers team that put a heavy rush on Eli Manning this past weekend. The Giants were able to get good yards and a touchdown from Kevin Boss, so Celek, who had a touchdown of his own on Sunday, could be a key figure in the Eagles' offense. |

| Greg Olsen, CHI @ SF | Olsen will have a tough test against the good linebackers in San Francisco Thursday night. He caught three touchdowns on Sunday, so he could get more attencion from Patrick Willis and friends. |
| Dallas Clark, IND vs NE | The battles between the Patriots and Colts are legendary, and after Clark caught 14 balls last week you better believe the New England defense will know where he is all the time. Might be a better week to be Pierre Garcon than Clark. |
| Jon Carlson, SEA @ ARI | Arizona allowed three touchdowns to Olsen last week, so Carlson's value might be higher than you would think. |
| Heath Miller, PIT vs. CIN | This game could very easily be for control of the AFC North, and Miller is a big target for Roethlisberger. Mike Wallace has taken some catches, and touchdowns, away from Miller, but the Steelers look at their TE more at home. |
| Zach Miller, OAK vs KC | JaMarcus Russel's top target against a bad defense could be a perfect recipe for success... until you consider they're still the Raiders. |
