TEs are all the rave this year and more just keep coming out of the woodworks including Washington's very own Fred Davis. Davis has a huge upside, bigtime sleeper potential, and should be a hot waiver pickup this week; here's why!
One of the biggest surprises this year in Fantasy has been the tight end position, and if you’re one of the unlucky few suffering at TE this year instead owning anyone noteworthy, this could be your chance to take advantage of Fred Davis of the Washington Redskins.
With Cooley licking his wounds for at least four weeks, Davis will be a new focal point in an otherwise anemic offense, and the competition over the next three weeks looks pretty advantageous for a team that relies on the TE as much as Washington does.
The Redskins are a run first team no doubt, but the TE position accounts for 17% of the plays, 23% of the total yardage and have just as many TDs as the receivers which leads the overall team, so yes, the TE is pretty important in Washington.
Sunday, the Redskins face an Atlanta team that is currently ranked 4th worst in coverage against the TE, which is a potential windfall for Davis.
After that, they face the Broncos who are ranked 12th in coverage against the TE, then the Cowboys who rank an embarrassing 23rd in coverage against the TE.
Before this weekend’s festivities—no not Halloween—there were only three other TEs in the league with more yards than the Redskins’ combo of Davis and Cooley, so the obvious emphasis at TE is pretty big; Davis should see plenty of targets and end zone looks.
If you’re out shopping for a TE or looking for a quick fix, Davis is definitely worth a look, and very much still available. I recommend picking him up.
