It had to happen sometime this season. You knew it, I knew it. Michael Vick has signed with a team, and that team is the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, Vick is a man of many talents. Just because he is listed as a QB doesn't mean he will play QB. Afterall, there already is a great QB in Philly named Donovan McNabb.
The Wildcat formation has taken the league by storm and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Eagles run the Wildcat with Michael Vick at QB a few times a game.
The Eagles have a lot of young talent at wide receiver but no definite number one guy. DeSean Jackson is a great deep threat but doesn't have the size to catch the ball in a crowd. Rookie Jeremy Maclin is similar to Jackson concerning his ability but he is a little less of a showboat.
The fact that Vick was signed to a two year deal makes me think they have plans already for Vick. It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do with his skill set. When you are picking one of your final picks in your fantasy draft, I think you could do worse than picking Vick this year. If something did happen to McNabb, Vick would be an interesting play.
Before you get all giddy and draft Vick in the 5th round, remember that he still faces a (very good) chance to be suspended for a few games this season. Don't be surprised to see him miss the first four to six games.
The Eagles have been knocking at the door each year but something always seems to get in the way. It looks like the Eagles are very serious this year about getting to the Superbowl with the signing of Vick. I hope Vick can redeem himself a little with playing some football and making some meaningful plays for the Eagles.
Man...I just can't wait 'til the regular season!
