He who hath the quarterback, winneth the game...isnt' that somewhere in the Bible? The problem with the 49ers is very very simple......3 coaches since 2005, numerous OC's, numerous players, etc...what has been the one constant? Alex Smith. In this day and age, the NFL is all about the quarterback position. But the 49ers have chosen to barely address this crucial position for 7 years now and are just content to ride it out with a quarterback who has 2, count them, two 300 yard passing games in his entire, 7 year career. Alex Smith is not the answer, and the 49ers will never be a serious team regardless of how many coaching changes they make until they find a quarterback who gives them more than Alex Smith. Alex Smith is nothing more than Trent Dilfer 2.0, managing cames and playing in the confines of his system so he doesn't make mistakes. They fix that position, and it'll make a lot of other areas of the team that don't look so good now look a lot better, guaranteed.
