NFL Combine Winners and Losers Combine wrap, volume III February 23, 2008 5:48 PM Posted by ESPN.com's Mike Sando
DeSean Jackson coming in at 5'9" and around 170lbs really makes me wonder whether he can cut it as an NFL Wide Receiver. He's too much like Ted Ginn Jr and I personally don't rate Ginn... I just hope that Jackson's lack of size doesn't make him a bust as I really liked what this guy could do at Cal.
Mike Mayock has been saying this for the longest time. I have to give the boy from Philly some props. He has McFadden around 16 on his draft board with Mendenhall ahead of Darren. *EDIT* Actually, Mayock doesn't have McFadden in his top 20...as of 02.13.08 1)Matt Ryan - QB, Boston College 2)Sedrick Ellis DT, USC 3)Chris Long - DE, Virginia 4)Glenn Dorsey DT, LSU 5)Vernon Gholston DE, Ohio State 6)Jake Long OL, Michigan 7)Ryan Clady OL, Boise State 8)Keith Rivers LB, USC 9)Phillip Merling DE, Clemson 10)Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy 11)Brandon Flowers CB, Virginia Tech 12)Rashard Mendenhall RB, Illinois 13)Jeff Otah OL, Pittsburgh 14)Derrick Harvey DE, Florida 15)Kentwan Balmer DT, North Carolina 16)Aqib Talib CB, Kansas 17)Chris Williams OL, Vanderbilt 18)Mario Manningham WR, Michigan 19)Limas Sweed WR, Texas 20)Branden Albert OL, Virginia http://nyj.scout.com/2/728861.html (Feb. 13 List)
I was really impressed with Dustin Keller yesterday as i was watching I want the App State kid that ran a 4.27 40. That crap is blazing
I think his value will be with a team that is sold on a 2-RB system where he isn't the bellcow. McFadden will never be a Jamal Anderson/Eddie George type of back who gets the ball 20-25 times a game up the gut. His speed and size makes him a valuable weapon if used correctly IMO.
4.27 is in a nice open field in shorts and without 300 lb. lineman trying to rip your head off......looks good on paper but transfer it to the NFL playing field. Again, before anyone gets all hurt and defensive, I do think McFadden will make it in the NFL. In the right system and not as an every down back. I see some hoping their team drafts him and others wowing over his speed but is he going to be a productive every down back that is the rock your team will be built around for years? I doubt it. Will he be a dimension of a team for years? Could very well be. I can see him as a player that shares time at rb and returns kicks and maybe even plays some wide receiver.
SaintsFan1972 is talking about Glenn Dorsey after the report over concerns about his leg injury. I moved it since that thread is locked. I wonder how far Dorsey drops after his visit to the hospital. I think Sedrick Ellis was even with Dorsey before this. Some Other Combine Notes from today:
It's no wonder, the name says it all... But seriously...that sucks big time!!! Could you imagine? hboy:
Doesn't that sound eerily similar to Reggie Bush and all the criticism he's getting? Just not worth a top 5 pick in my opinion. After watching and reading all this about the combine, I'm seriously thinking the Fins may go after Jake Long, guy is an animal. Looking forward to seeing Chris Long to. Just a side note but I was very impressed with Jordy Nelson from K State. He ran a 4.49 40. He showed great hands and looked very fluid and relaxed.
