Comes down to coaching, man. Bill Self did a great job with the talent the 07-08 team had... but this year's Kansas team was too concerned with "the run"- when would it happen, how much ground they'd have to make up, etc. They never bothered to worry about what would happen when it DIDN'T HAPPEN. And UNI didn't let it happen. They'd been sleepwalking into games since the Oklahoma State loss, and it finally bit them. I love Kansas basketball dearly, but they deserved that loss. Just too bad that it'll be the last game for Cole Aldrich (whose draft stock probably DROPPED over the course of this year) and Xavier Henry (he's not ready for the NBA, like it or not). Self has now coached Kansas teams that lost to Bucknell, Bradley, and NORTHERN IOWA. Roy Williams may have lost to UTEP and Rhode Island, and didn't win a title... I don't know how to score it. I just know it sucks.

 

I'm not going to hold Bucknell and Bradley against Self....that was with Roy's players. I agree with you though, this team never really reached it's potential. It played about 10 hard minutes per game and that was always enough. I had hoped the Oklahoma State loss would be good enough to motivate them for the stretch run but it really didn't.
