I wanted to write this down somewhere....So here is good so I can get comments and whatnot.

The picks we have, the draft ranges for each pick and my favourite players.

    Draft Needs (Offense):
Quarterback: Yes, definitely. Hasselbeck has reached his mid-30s and his play has fallen off thanks to shoddy offensive line play and an awful running game.

Running Back: Yes. Justin Forsett is great on 3rd downs in both pass protection and catching out of the backfield, but we need either one all-rounder or two specialists to play alongside him. Fullback is set with town crazy bastard Owen Schmitt.

Wide Receiver: Yes. Our #1 receiver, Nate Burleson, left via fee agency. TJ Houshmanzadeh (Offically #1) doesn't fit our scheme. Deon Butler has shown promise but his small size probably limits him to the slot (Not a bad thing)

Tight End: No. John Carlson is an awesome blocker and sure-handed in the pass game. Cameron Morrah looks very good, but needs to develop blocking skills. A blocking TE would not be that helpful as JC is probably better at it than most blocking TEs.

Left Tackle: Absolutely. Walter Jones is just about done. Sean Locklear is a right tackle. If Walter stays, it will be in a mentoring role. Alex Gibbs is the new line coach and he likes later round players with high intelligence who he can mold into his ZBS.

Interior OL: Yes. Max Unger is solidified at C or G. The other two positions can be upgraded via mid round picks that fit the scheme better.

Right Tackle: Yes. Sean Locklear is decent when healthy, but is injury prone. Again, a better fit for Gibbs' ZBS can be found in the late rounds.

    Draft Needs (Defense):
Defensive End: Yes. Patrick Kerney is not a starter anymore thanks to age and injury, but can still be a good situational pass rusher. Tapp is a FA, who will probably resign but he's a streaky player against the pbutt. Lawrence Jackson has potential. Nick Reed is Nick Reed.

Defensive Tackle: Yes. Brandon Mebane is a good 3-technique, but Colin Cole was an abomination at nose, and Red Bryant has yet to show anything.

Middle Linebacker: No. Lofa Tatupu is the team leader and David Hawthorne is a capable starter.

Outside Linebacker: No. Aaron Curry was a top 5 pick and played well his rookie year. Leroy Hill is an explosive athlete who is a great fit at weakside linebacker.

Cornerback: Yes. Trufant was rehabbing from a slew of injuries, so should be better in 2010, but is also getting on (29) in years. Josh Wilson flashes brilliance but he is short (5'9") and gives up a lot of jump balls because of it. Kelly Jennings is terrible.

Safety: Yes. Deon Grant is old and slow, but a great leader. Jordan Babineaux had a decent season as a first time FS but I don't now how much improvement he has left.

Special Teams: K Olindo Mare was franchised, and P Jon Ryan was the 2009 MVP. Sad, but true.

    Draft Picks:
    Round 1, 6
    Round 1, 14 (Alphonso Smith)
    Round 2, 8
    Round 4, 6
    Round 5, 8
    Round 6, 7
    Round 7, 6

    Picks and Ranges.

    Round 1, 6
This pick has a massive range. Nobody knows what Pete Carroll wants, but John Schneider is a BPA guy. New regimes generally mean new Quarterbacks, so if Clausen or Bradford fall out of the top 5 that is a possibility. Gerald McCoy or Suh falling will be a no brainer, but unlikely. Eric Berry is a possibility if they go pure BPA. Any high graded OT would be a good pick (Okung, Williams, Bulaga, Campbell). Joe Haden if they don't read to much into 40 times is possible. A 4-3 edge rusher (Derrick Morgan, Pierre-Paul) is also possible.

    Round 1, 14
Large number of possibilities here too. If a QB is picked, they could grab a tackle to protect him (Brown, Williams, Bulaga, Campbell). They could pick one of the second-tier DTs (Price, D.Williams, Odrick) or a WR (Bryant, Benn, Dam. Williams). Taylor Mays and Earl Thomas are also in play here if Berry is not picked. Joe Haden falling won't get past 14. CJ Spiller is a possibility if Carroll wants a quick RB. If Morgan falls this far he would be hard to pass up.

    Round 2, 8
At the top of the first round teams can grab first-round prospects that fell for some reason. WR Damian Williams is a possibility. CB Devin McCourtey would be a great fit in our scheme (similar to Trufant) as would CB Perrish Cox. A bigger running back could be a good choice in round 2, like Johnathan Dwyer, Ben Tate or Ryan Matthews. DE Daniel Te'O'Neshiam is a local product and the kind of undersized pass rusher that fits well in our scheme.

    Round 4, 6
If Clausen/Bradford are not selected, this could be on QB John Skelton, a great fit for the Jeremy Bates' offense. Rounds after 3 are usually full of situational guys and backups, but Alex Gibbs has made a career out of finding linemen here. He favours intelligent, tough linemen, so J.D. Walton, Eric Olsen, Mike Johnson, Jeff Byers, Matt Tennant, Selvish Capers and Ed Wang are all in this draft range. Greg Hardy could be the pick if he falls because of poor production and bad measurables. A guy I like is DE Kevin Basped from Nevada. CB project A.J. Jefferson will go late 3/early 4.

    Round 5, 8
The same linemen from round 4 are probably still in play. Some DB depth would not go amiss, so Trevard Lindley, Walter Thurmond, Myron Lewis, Patrick Stoudamire, and Devin Ross are possibilities. Alex Gibbs' influence could strike again, relying on late-round running backs like Joique Bell, Andre Anderson, James Starks or Deji Karim (I like him!!) to produce in his scheme.

    Round 6, 7
I think Pete Carroll here starts to select his old USC guys who fall this far, because he already knows them and they aren't such an unknown commodity. RB Stafon Johnson, OG Alex Parsons, C Jeff Byers and FS Josh Pinkard are the late round USC prospects. Other than that, BPA!

    Round 7, 6
The aforementioned USC guys, or any guys Pete Carroll knows well from his recruiting process. BPA. Offensive/Defensive line depth, linebacker depth and receiver depth is also needed.

Outstanding breakdown, Stoudamire is a later rd. corner i really like, Tate would be a nice pickup and good compliment to Forsett.

Personally I see Everson Griffin with that second #1. USC guy and Carrol is a defensive coach, so I think one of "his" guys would be more likley on that side of the ball

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

At 6 I think its gonna be either Claussen or Bulaga

I'd love Clausen at 6. That would be awesome. If we get him we had better get a tackle at 14. Charles Brown is USC. Get him. Reach, but at least he's an upgrade over Locklear.

I have no doubts that Carroll is considering Griffen, I just chose not to mention it because he is a lazy SOB who I don't want on my team.

You guys do already have a USC DE right?

    Lawrence Jackson, yeah.

I could see you guys double fisting offense in the first, particlarly with two first, a new staff and no set future at QB and LT

Its a solid OT class, but after Bulaga, its not a safe position.Solid bust potential after that

If you want to solidify both those spots, I think you draft Bulaga at 6 and try to trade up to 7 or 8 and snag Claussen

You can take Claussen at 6 and roll with Campbell, Davis or Brown. But those guys are gambles

I hate Davis, but I'd be happy with a project like Campbell cos we need two more years to be properly rebuilt. Rebuilding starts with a QB though.

I think Bradford falls to the Seahawks if the Rams don't take him, if not, Joe Haden

Bradford would be a good fit in our offense. I think will will have linemen as a higher priority than DB, with the exception of Eric Berry, who i the best player in the draft.

Haden would have been an epic reach at 6 even before his slow time

IDK if he is even good value at 14

Haden is a top 10 talent. I compare him to Leon Hall, who is one of my favourite NFL corners. He's tough, physical, smart and great against the run.

His 40 time doesn't mean much (except if you're Vlad Tepes Davis) if you watch his tape and see him run stride for stride with the fastest receivers.
