A Whole Lot To Play For

So far, Tony Dungy has liked a lot of what he has seen from the Colts this season.

The Colts have been focused.

They have put themselves in position to accomplish their goals.

They are within range of a fifth consecutive AFC South title and they are close very, very close to a sixth consecutive playoff appearance.

Dungy, in his sixth season as the Colts head coach, said what the Colts have done thus far this season is an accomplishment, having been achieved despite a slew of injuries, not to mention less than a year after winning the Super Bowl.

But he also said this:

Theres a lot more to be accomplished.

And now is hardly the time to lose focus.

Its been satisfying in a lot of ways, Dungy said Wednesday afternoon as the AFC-South leading Colts (10-2) prepared to play the Baltimore Ravens (4-8) of the AFC North at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Sunday at 8:15 p.m.

People talk about the post-Super Bowl letdown or whats going to happen and everybodys gunning for you. I thought our guys, from the minute we came back to work, were very focused on doing what we always do and trying to get the same results. Weve worked hard. Weve had a lot of young guys come through for us and thats always satisfying to see those guys develop.

It has been a lot of fun. Its been a great team to coach.

The Colts, the four-time defending AFC South champions, moved a major step closer to a fifth consecutive division title this past Sunday, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 28-25, at the RCA Dome.

The victory gave the Colts a two-game lead in the division over Jacksonville with four games remaining. The Colts also hold a tiebreaker advantage over the Jaguars because of a head-to-head sweep.

The Colts can clinch a playoff berth Sunday under several scenarios.

They can clinch the AFC South title with:

A victory and a Jacksonville (8-4) loss and a Tennessee (7-5) loss or tie. The Jaguars play host to Carolina (5-7) and the Titans play host to San Diego (7-5).

And, they can clinch a playoff spot with:

A victory and a Cleveland (7-5) loss or tie. The Browns visit the New York Jets (3-9)
Sunday.

A victory and a Jacksonville loss.

A victory and a Tennessee loss or tie.

A tie and a Cleveland loss.

A Tennessee loss and a Buffalo (6-6) loss or tie. The Bills play host to Miami (0-12) Sunday.
