Ill still take twitter over Florio.... If you think about, once you get past the "starting CB for a 3rd string HB", it wouldnt make much sence on Dallas's part at least (dont pay that much attention to SD to say it would make any sence for them). It would be like Philly's CB situation in 2008 when they signed Samuel with Shepard still there. Unless you trade Newman ( and Cro is a downgrade from Newman) whoever is the sub package CB is pissed the heck off, and thats not good for anyone. And if you trade Newman (which may not even be realistic with his $$$$) you have a much weaker CB group
damn man i love me some TChoice, but heck... Cromartie a Cowboy? the dude is ridiculous athletic, and is good for big play making ability in which we need.. Wade could do a lot with that dude.
If this were to go down the Chargers might end up the winners in this deal. Cromartie is athletic as hell but he is very undisciplined. Choice is a steady back who I think can be a consistent contributor.
cro still hasnt reached his full potential and i dont think hed be a downgrade over newman for more than a year....newman is clearly wearing down, maybe newman would be good for cro. cro is not conservative, hes an all or nothing type guy
Cromartie is the right type of corner to have across from Jenkins. Jenkins is safe and doesn't allow the big play, even if it means giving up a shorter completion. Cromartie takes more chances and gets more ints. And with Newman already there they can line up any of them on any receiver, making it an extra read for the QB. Nice. I like DBs.
I dont know what his metrics are, but I would wager to say that this year Jenkins has been more effective short than deep when they stopped with the cushion
Since they swapped from that other guy (Scandrick?) to Jenkins the team as a whole were better against the deep ball. It not noticeable in stats and stuff but if you look back, you see it.
Jenkins was good in deep coverage, but his strentgh is press coverage. The team as whole got better defending the deep ball because our pass rush as whole got off to a slow start
Either way you look at it, Jenkins and Cromartie are a good combo because one if very safe and consistent (Jenkins) and one makes lots of big plays (Cromartie). If they can get someone like Darren Sharper (he's a FA) or Earl Thomas in the draft, the secondary would be one of the top three in the league.
Jenkins is a bigger playmaker than Cromartie. Jenkins had 5 picks this year and Cro has had 5 in the last two years. I just dont see Cromartie as the type of guy that will make a good defense better right now. At this point I would rather draft a CB like Robinson and let them sit and learn for a couple years
Robinson, no. Great size and speed but lacks the instincts and intelligence. Ghee or Wilson, yes, definately.
your hating on cro for a down year cause of a chipped bone in his hip and a terrible SD defense that really suffered losing williams this year and merriman last year. when merriman was roided up and unblockable and the SD pass rush was elite cro dominated. cromartie is a big time play maker....i really thought he was going to be the best CB in the league one day when he came out of FSU and he really made me look smart for a while. im just saying he makes big plays and on a good maybe even great dallas defense he would dominate
I dont think Im hating on him that much, the dude is far from a finished project, seems to have a bad attitude, isnt very smart (cant read), and had his one big year as a 3rd CB (Florence was the starter). He is not a bad player, and if a team was hurting for CB's he would be great value. We are not hurting for CB's, and if we need one, its one to play 2 years from now, and even that could be Scan
are you that confident in how long newman is gonna be good still...i mean he went from being elite to mediocre pretty quick....ive had him in my top 5 for a while, not anymore though
I like the deal for the cowboys,,,,they could find another good back in the later rounds. I think the olan is to move FS Ken Hamlin and replace him with Newman.
He isnt mediocre, he is still a top easily a 15 CB. He will probobly be much more effective next year when Jenkins takes over the #1 CB spot. He has long enough left that we have enough time to bring along another young CB, and thats if the staff doesnt see Scandrick as a #2 **********Automerged Doublepost********** If it is than thats the worst plan ever
