Colts president/GM Bill Polian said Pro Bowl WR Reggie Wayne and Pro Bowl DE Robert Mathis might as well end their holdouts now because neither is going to get a new contract. Both players have two years remaining on their contracts. Polian said he is unwilling to negotiate long-term contracts for veterans in a year where there is no CBA and thus doesn't know how their contracts would impact the club long-term. Wayne and Mathis will have to report to camp by Aug. 10 or lose a year of service and thus delay eligibility for free agency. "We're not in a regular environment, that's the problem," Polian told ESPN on Saturday. "I've spoken to both their agents, and I certainly respect both men and they make a good case. But the problem is we don't have a system, and without a system you don't know where contracts might or might not fit. "So it's futile to plan beyond just baseline kind of planning because you don't know what the final product is going to look like."
