Browns cornerback Hank Poteat, who drew the critical pass interference call on the second to last play of the game when he shoved receiver Bryant Johnson out of the back of the end zone, was convinced his move was legal. "My understanding is, once the quarterback's out of the pocket, you can force the receiver out of bounds, and that's what I was trying to do," said Poteat. "That's what I was always coached to do. When I saw him rotate out to the right, that's when I shoved him out of bounds. And they called pass interference on me." He said he tried to explain his reasoning to the officials, "but [the official] was like 'no, pass interference.'" Asked if he was upset, Poteat said, "I'm just upset that my team fought so hard late in the game to put us in a situation to win and it had to come down to the penalty that I caused. Going into that situation, I actually thought we were going to go ahead and win that game. Unfortunately the penalty hurt us."
