Brandon Weeden has two main things on his checklist heading into Sunday's rematch with the Bengals: Check it down and check his ego at the tunnel.

The Browns' rookie QB admitted Wednesday that he's hurt the team with his nine interceptions -- tied for most in the NFL -- and that he needs a paradigm shift to reverse this 0-5 skid.

"It's an ego thing and I think I just need to get rid of the ego and take what they give me and move on and not be as stubborn," he said. "Just throw the football away and move on."

Case in point was Sunday's game in New York, on a fateful third-and-1 when Jordan Norwood flashed open early and Weeden didn't get the ball out quickly enough. Instead, he threw high and wide for Josh Gordon and was picked off for the eighth time this season. It triggered a Browns' three-minute meltdown that led to the 41-27 rout.

"If I had to do it again I would've probably thrown it on one step," he said. "It was a three-step throw. It's an early throw. Once I got out to my fifth step, which is usually where I go outside, it was covered up. That's why they're saying, 'Always throw it in the bleachers.'"
