ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting via his Twitter page that the Arizona Cardinals have acquired free safety Kerry Rhodes from the New York Jets. Arizona traded it's fourth round pick this year and a seventh round pick next year for Rhodes. Rhodes is expected to fill the gap left by the departure of Antrel Rolle who became the highest paid safety in league history by signing with the New York Giants. Source: Adam Schefter, Twitter
A good magician never reveals his secrets raven. Smart move by the Cardinals. Rhodes will fill Rolle's shoes nicely and will add another physical presence in their secondary along with Adrian Wilson.
I'll second that... You guys better HOPE & PRAY that Al Davis drafts Taylor Mays because I can see Rex drafting him. Making that defense even MORE Nasty. I'm glad the Raiders are in the AFC West! :)

When the rumor of a Boldin-Rhodes trade was goin' on a couple of days ago, it seemed if it went down the Cards would have gotten the better of the deal. This is insane. Kudos to Rod Graves and Whisenhunt ready and willing to strike at the right time. Hardly any, if any, downgrade from Rolle.:clapping:
Wow, freaking ecstatic about this. No drop off at free safety after all. Suddenly I'm not so pissed about this Boldin trade. We basically gave up Boldin and a 5th and 7th (next year) for Rhodes and a 3rd. That's a phenomenal deal if you ask me.
Wow... wish we'd have coughed up that for a player like Kerry Rhodes. Cardinals got an upgrade at the safety position.

That's my favorite part about this move. Though I would have loved to have RC back there as well, the kicker is that we didn't have to sign a safety as a free agent and use up the one big signing we get with the 'Top 8' rule. Now just nab a replacement for Dansby, hopefully Foote as just a 1 year filler for cheap, and go grab a big upgrade like Porter or someone similar and we're back on track.
Rhodes is garbage, I don't understand why everyone is nutting all over him. He had ONE good season, and was benched last year for a nobody because he's a soft candyass, He might be an upgrade over whatever scrub backup the Cards had behind Rolle but he's no upgrade over Rolle. Basically the Cards are now playing 2 strong safeties who can't cover and one (Rhodes) that can't even hit or play up on the line for crap. Good luck with that.
I can't embrace the move since Rhodes was the other guy that crushed Boldin two years ago. I still remember screaming vicious profanities at the television because, like Smith, Rhodes left his feet and lead with his helmet. In fact Rhodes hit the back of his Boldin's helmet a split second before Smith crushed Boldin's face. So the Cardinals essentially traded Boldin for one of the guys that nearly ended Boldin's career, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.:dirty18:
