ggrrrrr too many damn mistakes could've been worse with the field position they were getting all game but we need to take what we can from this game and move on
I watched on a decent stream although my attention was more on the Pokes-Browns game for the 1st half at least. For the Niners, the pass rush looked improved, I liked the way they moved Justin Smith around trying to get mis-matches. Gore looked excellent, powering through tackles, running, catching, he is the Niners offense. Having said that, I thought JTO looked ok in parts, he tried to hang in and deliver passes, made a couple of nice plays but his protection was iffy and he was sacked and fumbled twice and under pressure a fair bit all game. There is still no obvious #1 receiver and this game didn't offer anyone stepping up from the pack. Credit to the Cardinals, they played a nice game, expecially the 2nd half where they played keep ball to stop Gore getting back on the field and they got Boldin involved more. Their pass protection was iffy at times too, especially from the outside. Game sealing play may have being the fumbled kick return by Spikes, after a long Cards drive, the Niners gave the ball straight back and hardly saw it in the second half. Interesting they lined Rodgers-Cromartie at WR for a play.
Tough pill to swallow. :( But I liked what I saw from the offense and our D was even better than last year. Haralson was a pleasant surprise and I hope he keeps it up. I believe that we could've won this game easily if not for our ST woes. JTO definitely plays better than Alex Smith and Gore looks like he's poised for a big year. JTO is to blame for the INT, but I can't quite blame him for both fumbles. The first one came on a HORRID pass protection from Joe Staley and the second one came with the game out of reach already. Yet you guys can imagine that there's a revolution going on at .com with Alex Smith apologists blaming the loss entirely on O'Sullivan. Crazy.
It hurt knowing the game was winnable but the team seemed to want to give it away. I think the game really should have been a blow out if not for the Defense playing their asses off in the first half.
